Fluoride_Station is a work station and a program of activities for the younger public organized by Medialab-Prado in its new building in Madrid aiming to reach new audiences.
A place that intends to be different, an interactive laboratory open to experimentation that might motivate creativity, where learning with games is practical and the activities are focused on creativity, through visits, workshops and workgroups.
In collaboration with the other workstations, Medialab-Prado's Fluoride Station offers space and support for younger workgroups to develop projects and activities centered on digital culture and it encourages participation and collaborative work, in order to motivate new social relations and mutual learning.
Since May 2013 the station includes the Maths_Lab, a laboratory for mathematical experimentation centered on games for children and teenagers. The Maths_Lab intends to be a work group open to the experimentation with and knowledge of mathematics, games and technologies, which are the basic elements for the workshops that will follow. The idea is to celebrate periodical gatherings for parents and children, as well as teenagers to approach and understand mathematics in a fun way.
CoderDojo events are also an important part of this station. A learning club for kids to know other people with same interests and learn from each other: HTML, Scratch, Processing, Arduino, 3D printing... will be some of the subjects.
During the Summer 2013 we have also organized a Urban Camp: Think, Create, Build were kids from 6 to 16 experiment with food, electronics, 3D printing, music, dance and other subjects from a collaborative and transdisciplinary perspective.
