Incubation means a process whereby artists, scientists, researchers and designers who are professionals, academics, students or amateurs can work together with mentors overcoming the conventional and institutional obstacles, and develop actual products - educational, social, cultural, or commercial.

This process is always visible and transparent to the public who interact with it at different points in the process.

The key values of incubation projects can be summarized as:
• Collaborations are original - neither the artists/designers or scientists involved have done anything quite like them before
• Results are surprising
• Work/projects create lessons for future projects
• Processes creates products/ actions that will reach broader audiences either as products, exhibits/events or initiatives
• Each project will have a cultural, humanitarian or commercial impact
• Projects are catalysts for public dialogue
• Scientific and artisitc integrity of each project will be paramount to the process and project outcomes
